TRIPPSITTER is a social travel platform for adults aged 18 and over, operated from India. Members create trip plans with routes and dates, discover trips other people have made public, match with potential travel companions, and coordinate the practical details in dedicated group and direct chats before anyone books anything.
The product exists to fix a specific gap. General social networks are good at travel inspiration and bad at the handoff from "we should go somewhere" to an actual trip with agreed dates, a budget everyone can afford, and a plan each person has seen. TRIPPSITTER organises that handoff, and keeps the safety, privacy, and reporting tools next to the conversation where they are needed.
What you can do here
Build a trip with a route, waypoints, and dates, then decide whether it stays private, is shared with people you approve, or is listed publicly so others can ask to join. Review and approve join requests yourself. Coordinate in a chat attached to the trip so decisions stay in one place instead of scattered across several apps. Post travel updates and stories, follow other travellers, and keep a record of where you have been.
Finding a travel companion
Humsafar is the companion matching feature, named for the Hindi and Urdu word for travel companion. You set the destinations, dates, and travel preferences that matter to you, see other members looking for company, and a match is created when interest is mutual. Matching is a discovery tool. It does not mean a person has been screened, and it makes no claim about compatibility, character, or conduct.
What we do not do, stated plainly
TRIPPSITTER is not a travel agency, tour operator, transport provider, accommodation provider, emergency service, or background-check company. We do not conduct criminal-record checks, sex-offender-registry checks, or any background screening on any member. Members make their own travel and safety decisions, and are responsible for verifying the people and plans they choose to trust.
How safety tools actually work
Every account must be 18 or over. Profiles can be private, so you approve who follows you, and each trip and post has its own visibility setting. Images are checked automatically for explicit content before they become publicly visible. You can report or block any member from a profile, post, comment, or chat, and there is a published grievance process with defined acknowledgement and resolution timelines.
What a verification badge means
Identity verification is optional. A badge indicates that at the time of review a submitted identity document appeared facially valid and reasonably consistent with a submitted selfie. That is the whole claim. It is not a background check, a character reference, an age guarantee, or an assurance about anyone future conduct. Documents can be forged or borrowed and reviewers can make mistakes, so a badge should never be a reason to lower your own caution.
Free to use, with an optional subscription
Creating an account, planning trips, discovering public trips, matching with companions, messaging, and posting are all free and stay free. An optional premium subscription removes advertising and adds companion-matching features. Payments are processed by Razorpay and we do not store complete card details. Cancellation and refund terms are published in full.
Advertising and privacy
We do not show third-party advertising by default. Where advertising is enabled it appears only on public editorial pages such as the travel guides, and never in feeds, profiles, trips, chats, or any private communication screen. Advertising is served by Google AdSense and only after you consent through a separate prompt you can decline. The Privacy Policy names every third-party processor we use and where it operates.
Twenty free travel guides, no account needed
The public guide library contains twenty original guides covering how to assess a companion you met online, how to structure a first meeting, planning a shared budget without one person controlling the money, agreeing accommodation boundaries, documents and visa checks, travel insurance exclusions, choosing transport for a group, packing for shared space, seasonality and monsoon planning, recognising scam patterns, digital and account safety, and solo travel fundamentals. Every guide cites its primary public sources and is available without signing up.
A planning worksheet you can use without an account
The free travel companion planning worksheet turns the recurring decisions from those guides into twenty-five prompts about trip pace, money, accommodation, boundaries, safety, conflict, and exit plans. Each traveller can complete it privately in their own browser, compare answers, print the result, and reset it without sending the responses to TRIPPSITTER.
How the guides are produced
The guides are written and reviewed in-house, carry a visible review date, and cite government, regulator, and official emergency-service sources for anything that changes. We do not accept paid placement, sponsored content, or affiliate commissions in editorial content, and no advertiser has input into what a guide says. The editorial policy explains the process, the sourcing standards, and how to report a factual error.
